Anthemion Auctions is the only International Fine Art Auctioneers with an Auction House in the Capital of Wales. Our Principal Ryan Beach is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. We offer our buyers and sellers a complete auction experience.

About us

Ryan Beach MRICS, BA(Hons) FAV, FAV Dip, RJ Dip, started his career at Phillips Auctioneers in 1995 after successfully completing a Fine Arts Valuation Diploma, Retail Jewellers Diploma and a Fine Arts Valuation Degree at Southampton.

With the closure of the Phillips regional network and particularly the Cardiff saleroom Ryan took the plunge and established Anthemion Auctions in the March of 2000. We acquired our present premesis in 2005, offering us an auction house twice the size of the previous venue with easier access from the M4 on the main arterial road into the centre of Cardiff.

Since opening we have held in excess of 140 auctions offering more than 60,000 individual lots. We have been fortunate to advise thousands of clients on the valuation of Antiques and Fine Arts, Sporting Memorabilia and Collectors items.

Clients come to us via a number of avenues, from local and national advertising and we pride ourselves on word of mouth recommendations, supplied by satisfied clients, solicitors and other professionals alike.

We produce catalogues for all of our auctions, with the Fine sales, Collectors sales and Sporting Memorabilia sales being extensively illustrated, these can be viewed on this and other websites. Our database of buyers and sellers come from all around the world and we pride ourselves on providing a professional service to all of our clients.

We have an extensive auction programme including monthly general sales, three fine sales, two sporting memorabilia sales and two collectors’ sales.

We moved to our present saleroom in 2005, the site enables us to have two salerooms running side by side.

Entries are currently being accepted for future sales of Furniture, Pictures, Ceramics, Silver, Jewellery, Sporting Memorabilia, Collectables, Toys, The Welsh Arts, Shotguns and Country Sports.

Anthemion Auctions was established in 2000 and moved to our present saleroom in 2005, this site enables us to have two salerooms running side by side.

Ryan Beach started his career with Phillips from 1995 – 2000 as a Valuer and Auctioneer throughout South Wales and latterly in the South of England. He is the principal in the firm conducting seventeen auctions per year.

Auction Sale Valuations

Anthemion Auctions operate a free valuation service to our clients for auction sale purposes. Members of the public always receive a warm welcome and we are pleased to offer a verbal opinion on the history and current market value of their chattels. We hold regular in house valuations on most Fridays from 10.00am to 4.00pm, please ring 029 2047 2444 to confirm that a Valuer is in attendance, however, should the Valuer be unavailable, objects can be safely left for later appraisal. Naturally, all our clients’ property is fully insured in our care.

Alternatively photographs of your objects can be sent to anthemions@aol.com for appraisal.

Home visits can be arranged for full house contents where items cannot be brought to the saleroom for valuation.

Probate Valuations

Anthemion Auctions provide a prompt and professional service to legal professionals, executors and beneficiaries of deceased estates. The valuations we provide comply to the S160 Inheritance Tax Act 1984. We will also, when required remove high risk items for safe keeping until the grant of probate and their subsequent sale.

Insurance Valuations

Anthemion Auctions can provide you with a valuation for Insurance purposes. It is extremely important that your treasured possessions are adequately insured against loss or theft. A bespoke Insurance valuation from Anthemion Auctions will contain a full description of your objects with an accompanying photograph to record your possessions accurately in the unfortunate situation of having to make a claim.

The value of an antique item or item of jewellery does not necessarily follow in line with inflation. The value of antique items is dictated by many factors including fashion, demand, style, economic factors such as precious metal fluctuating values, the strength of the pound etc, all contributing to the ultimate price of an object. A fully itemised record of your items with an up to date valuation will aid a quick and successful settlement of a claim.

At Anthemion Auctions we are governed by the regulations set down by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and you are protected via our codes of practice and Professional Indemnity insurance.

We have access to an extensive database of current values enabling an accurate assessment of your possessions. Our valuation service is competitively priced. We charge only for the time at the property on an hourly basis. All work undertaken for research away from the property and travelling expenses are borne by us.

An additional service of a re-valuation can be provided at regular intervals keeping your treasures covered with additions added or deleted depending on tastes and circumstances.
