We hold live auctions.

Our fine specialist sales include rare antique garments right through to Street Style by designers such as Emillio Pucci, Ossie Clark, Andre Courreges, Pierre Cardin and Vivienne Westwood to sublime Couture confections by Dior, Chanel and Vionnet. Accessories sold include shoes, gloves, hats, fans, bags and costume jewellery. The textiles included are wide ranging including lace, linens, quilts, embroided pictures from the 17th to the 19th century centuries, embroided samplers, Paisley, Kashmir and Norwich shawls, Oriental and European textiles, antique fashion plates, literature and fabric swatch books.

We hold two major auctions a year in association with Sotheby’s entitled ‘Passion for Fashion’, and in addition up to six auctions at our studio in West Dulwich. The closing date for the Sotheby’s sale is usually 8 weeks before and for the Martell Road auction about two weeks before. The sale dates are posted on the top right side of the home page and are regularly updated. Kerry Taylor joined Sotheby’s in 1979 and aged twenty went on to become one of their youngest ever auctioneers. After setting up and running the Collector’s Department at Sotheby’s Chester she moved to the New Bond street office in 1986 where she re-established Costume and Textile sales and eventually became Director in charge of all Collector’s areas, special Theme Sales and Celebrity sales. In her career she has worked on historic, landmark auctions such as the wardrobes of Duke & Duchess of Windsor at Sotheby’s New York in 1997, the stunning wardrobe of Princess Lilian of Belgium, the Romilly Mc Alpine collection of Vivienne Westwood and major pieces of costume and textiles including the wedding suit of King James II c.1670 and the Chaffyn-Grove spangled linen jacket c.1630, both of which now form part of the Victoria & Albert Museum collection. Kerry also works as Textile Consultant to Sotheby’s, advising their international network of offices and has assisted Museums with valuations and applications for funding including Lottery and National Art Collection Fund grants.

What we sell
We sell antique costume through to 20th century street fashion and haute couture. Our sales include accessories, luggage, costume jewellery, fashion illustrations, literature, and photographs, fabric swatch books, Oriental and European textiles, quilts, samplers, needlworks linen and lace.

Commission bids
If you have never bid with us you will need to email or fax us proof of your identity such as a copy of your driver’s licence. Even though you may have been a Sotheby’s client for many years, we are totally different companies and do not share client information, so you may need to register again with us. We cannot accept bids without proof of identity. When leaving your bid please bear in mind that there is a 20% buyer’s premium that will also be applied to your bid. The premium is subject to VAT at the prevailing rate. For faxed commission bids please send to the number printed in the front of the auction catalogue which is different to our warehouse fax number shown in the contact details above. Do not send commission bids to the warehouse fax. For your ease you can download the bid slip which when completed can be faxed to us.

Private Treaty Sales
In addition to the regular auctions we also sell collections and individual pieces by private treaty. If you are seeking a particular item please email us details and we can try to locate the piece for you. Private treaty items are available for inspection by appointment. Email us if you require further details.

Purchase Advice
